Discussion Questions: Through Esther's Eyes, Part 2

At the wedding feast at Cana, Mary intercedes for Daniel and Athaliah, that there be more wine. Do you seek Mary’s intercession? Do you want a relationship with Mary? If so, what does your relationship with Mary look like?

Esther and Lazarus both have a conversion as well as many “mini” conversions. What conversions have you experienced? Do you need to be further converted to Jesus? How?

Of all the women in the novel, who are you most like? Of all the apostles in the novel, who are you most like?

Esther continually struggles with being barren. Is there something you continually struggle with. Do you turn to Jesus in these struggles?

Choose a miracle depicted in the novel, or any miracle depicted in the Gospels. Which miracle do you really connect with and why?

Jesus says that He is the bread that came down from heaven. Do you believe in the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist? Do you believe that He gives us his Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity? If not, what do you think of Jesus' words?

Esther’s mother walks away from Jesus at the Bread of Life discourse in Capernaum. Is there anything you feel like walking away from Jesus for? Perhaps the cross? Or some of Jesus’ hard sayings?

Lazarus was dead for four days. In the novel, we glimpse how Esther feels, but we know little of what Lazarus feels. Can you imagine or give insight as to what Lazarus experienced with dying, being dead, and being raised from the dead?
